Your new Starter Sets

By now you may have noticed something different about your Starter Sets. Like what the heck are those lame little green and yellow arrow marks in the lower right!? And why aren't they appearing in the checklist?

Okay, the basic idea is that the cards you start with are part of an alternate first set of cards called "The Beginning", which is two tabs below the Basic Set on the Card File. They are no different from ordinary cards, they are completely interchangeable. For example, you could have two "The Beginning" Vordore's and one "Basic Set" Vordore, which together will equal three copies of one card.

The only difference is that these cards can't be recycled. You can recycle the free cards you get for leveling, or for treasure battles or whatever, but not the ones you get in the beginning. Okay, you can recycle them but they have 0 value. This is so we could give you extra cards and also cards with decent rarity as part of the Starter without having to worry about too much Gran running around in the beginning. Also, the Japanese have other uses for valueless cards that will become clear as we go.

So now the question you've all be waiting for... why haven't we used them before? We'll, it's a matter of game balance during the Alpha... and, to try out Recycling... uhh... oh, fine. They weren't ready, happy now?

Sounds good, hope you don't mind me asking but according to the main news we were to receive some gran during the open beta to try things out in the shop but you've only given fight money, is this to change or has the gran been cancelled?

Eventually they will, I mean, on the long term theywill be releasing everything that Japan has.

You don't know what had happened in the Japan server. The Japan official server has just celebrated their 4 years birthday of Alteil. For the first year or so (can't remember exactly), people are free to recycle any cards in the starter file. This brings up the problem that some users keep creating accounts and "gamble" with the recycling system. If they sell half to one-third of the cards in the starter file. They can get enough gran to purchase their 1st booster pack. If a 4 or 5 star card come out, they can either keep it or recycle again to repeat the above step. Eventually, some people can come up with a better starter file even though they haven't start dueling at all. The gamble situation is fine for me, because it is a trade off between your time and better starter files. But the huge amount of dummy accounts may cause problem to the game company. So at the end, they brought up this so called "FM card" system, i.e. you can recycle any cards in the starter file, but you will get no gran for doing that. However, at the same time, they allow you to use 100FM to draw one "FM card", again the drawn "FM card" yields zero gran if you recycle it. But then players get more chances to obtain new cards besides using gran, plus there are a few 3 star cards in the FM card list. So I guess this is a compensation for not being able to recycle the cards in starter file.

In case you have never heard of the FM card system, there is one more point to pay attention to. When you draw FM cards, there is a certain probability that you will get a "blank" card, which means your FM is totally wasted.
