It has 20 less stats compared to a Lvl5. It's a Lvl6. According to a normal 100->120->140>160>180 distribution, a lvl6 = 180 Statpoints.
Mammoth = 190 Statpoints.
ShadowSpirit = 260 Statpoints.
Unicorn = 140 Statpoints.
All have their restirctions and abilities that alter their true worth ofcourse, so its hard to evaluate and compare. But it's still a whole lot less then your other options.
Conclusions that CAN be made: He outshines against fields with low Atk, tanks the same amount on averidge fields, and fails when there is even one stronger unit present. We can also already conclude StarDragon forefills Unicorn's role in a Bigs file to deal with a full field. There's no place, no SPACE, nor the need for a Lvl6->7 "bridge" in the file.
With it comes the fact for competitive play you build mainly to compete vs averidge and above damage.

To kill Mammoth = (1x60Dmg) + (2x 40Dmg)= 3 units.
To kill ShadowSpirit = (1x 60Dmg) + (2x 40Dmg) = 3 units.
To kill Unicorn = (1x 60Dmg) + (1x40Dmg) = 2 units.
To kill Mammoth = (3x 40Dmg) + (1x 20Dmg)= 4 units.
To kill ShadowSpirit = (3x 40Dmg) + (1x unit) = 4 units.
To kill Unicorn = (3x40Dmg) + (1x 30Dmg) = 4 units.
Thus... with this analysis one can safely say Unicorn will see marginal usage.
