Question About XP Potions with Public Matches

Postby Galandros » Wed Aug 05, 2009 9:31 am

For Logress and the other GMs: How will the public matches affect the use of XP Potions. I can think of three different scenarios of what happens.

Example: Using a 4x XP potion while in a public match (1.5XP)

A. You get 4x XP as the 4x value is higher than 1.5
B. You get 5.5x XP (4 + 1.5)
C. You get 6x XP (4 * 1.5)

To me the logical answer is C, but I want to verify that this is how it will work. Thanks as always.

I think it's C. 60 xp at a time seems fine, but 150 gran for 10 charges that won't 100% help, i am still unhappy about it.

We asked the Japanese, it's "C".

Excellent!

But... My EXP gained completely depends on having lucky duels vs. high-level players.

I have verified through testing that the answer is indeed C. An Annarose Special used in public matches yields 7xp and 400fm per loss. For a win, you get 75xp and 1600(!)fm. If you beat an opponent higher level than you, I'm pretty sure all the bonus xp is x7.5 as well. I can't test how often it yields treasure battles as every GM game is already a treasure battle, but I imagine it's a noticeable difference. For a player who wins a lot, I dare say this potion is now a pretty good investment. 1600fm per win adds up to a point card a lot faster than anything else I can think of does.

Even if you win a lot and gain so much from it. It still dosn't justify the price unless the charge is used up only when you win. :?

There's always chance involved. That's part of how Alteil works. Like yesterday, I beat exemplar in a match in which I think he had a very strong deck compared to mine. But I won a surprisingly high number of coin tosses and also lucked out with random targetting, thus demonstrating that sometimes unexpected things happen. My point was that it's possible to get FM considerably faster now than it was before we had spectating. It would still be a hefty investment to use such a potion to get FM and then spend it on point cards, but only half the investment it was before as you'll reap twice as much FM on average.
