You can't run mid-size decks alone. I focus on mid-size but you need a splash of other elements to work with it.
I run mid-size Renally!

-Edit-
I would like to coin the phrase for mid-size Renally to be

CPR -> Crushing Piping Renally XD
Nehless : complete form noze is so lame though
Nehless : sigh
Lecaf : fits you perfectly! :D
《Lecaf has exited the room》
Nehless : thats what she gets for calling me lame

Renally IS a mid sized card, perhaps you meant it had Legyre?

You know its worth noting that most big level builds support their big level with a mid level, its rare you see people use JUST a big level. Legyre is usually supported with Renally(level 4), Holy Dragon is usually supported with Wasseir (level 5), Sphynix (level 5), Retear (level 5), or Coatl (questionable as a mid level since its level 6 but its kind of on the fence between being big or mid). The gowen and lawtia one don't see much support, but I have seen the lawtia one supported with Dalos (level 5) and both builds just aren't all that popular right now do to their assassin weakness, we might see more creativity in their design if they were a bit more viable.

So you could argue their aren't many true purely big decks, even they tend to dabble in mid sized.

Vickz's top 3 file is centered around Renally and other Mid-sized units.

IIRC ByTheWay ran a pretty strong mid sized falkow deck based around renally and sea claw. I tried using a level 4 gowen deck for a little bit, although it didn't perform as well as my high level decks did. I'd imagine more people would run mid level decks if they had the cards. Personally I think on principle mid level decks are great. They are significantly faster than a high level deck, are able to dodge most low level hate (witch, return, salamander ss, etc), can overpower swarms, and are not as debilitated by assassin or mystere.
I used to wonder if I was crazy, but all that uncertainty drove me insane.

Alteil is pretty much well balanced. Sometimes you loose and sometimes the enemy wins.
