I think one of the key points about Elgandi here, is his open skill file lock. Icyman already mentioned it was a good idea to play it when you suspect your opponent will let a unit die for SP, but nobody went anywhere from that comment.
In the replay, Emki has 11 banked SP at one point while his file is locked. That SP wasn't doing him any good with only Emana on the field and over half his file locked.
Another thing to note about the file, is that it's almost purely lvl 5's and 4's that have distinctively different roles, so depending on what he has access to and what the opponent is doing, the player can change his setup to suit the need.

I'm not so sure it'd be top Meta in today's Folrart, but I think it's awesome

Dunno, elgandi gets countered by solar kingdom pretty hard out of everyone that played him against me cuz he'll go like arrgh against my rubens sitting there and slowly waiting out the lock and summoning units.
