Just decided to do something random as the forum seems rather quiet lately. Just something that happened to me a couple of weeks back,
I open: gowen to 3, alraune -> EX merc girl
My opponent opens: shade->crest spy

I didn't get izcer attacked and didn't use an obvious counter like fairy dance, what happened?

Alraune was going first and killed Shade. You played turn 3 Dryad to protect Alraune, she then got 40 HP and def 10, and the first ss of your opponent was Esria & Astaforse.

Though that is the most logical guess, it's not correct. I didn't play a dryad turn 3, and although I don't remember with certainty, I think my alraune lost the agi roll to shade. Might be useful to know my opponents first SS wasn't specifically meant for a turn 2 crest spy.

too many possibilities... maybe your opponent was drunk and put assasin or afeemina 1st ss with that opening...

You need to give more hints, was it a situation in your favor or your opponents?

Yeah, probably to difficult this way. My opponents first SS was Dragon Path King / Gafc.

Maybe this:

You had 3 SP so the amount of cards you could have played is limited. Your opponent had 2 SP and he played probably Shade.

You played Dragon Breath and damaged Spy to 20 HP, if the first ss was Gafc then your opponent was in a bad spot because both your cards EX Merc Girl and Alraune were faster then his Spy and deal 20 dmg. If he hits EX Merc Girl you get 1 SP and can play a lvl3 next turn, if he kills Alraune with Gafc then you get to trigger your first ss. He killed Alraune because that would be a better solution.
