The Circle's List of File Types - Lawtia

Postby Jazzock » Fri Nov 02, 2012 10:17 pm

This is an outline of several files types within Lawtia and the common cards found within it. These threads are essentially an updated version of Harvests threads. These aim to make it easier for newer players to see what works well together and hopefully allow them to make their own exciting files. I'd like to thank The Circle - Especially NitroDino, InfernityFan and Teru (who came out of his hidey hole) who helped make the outlines and provided some links. I'd also like to thank everyone who gave their support in doing this. Special Thanks once again to harvest4god who inspired these threads. I will try to keep these updated.
Note that I am defining 'rush' files as Lv 1-3 files, Mids as files which use at least 1 Lv 4-6 unit and Bigs as files which usually use at least 1 Lv 7-9 unit for simplicity.

Low Level / Rush Files

Dolls
This file is a rush file which makes use of slowing the opponent down with shades and out-rushing them. Modern variants often use MD exorcist and the free revive dolls along with Sumer. Quite a formidable file to go up against, however requires some skill to play.

Key Cards:
Shade * Should be used in every single Lawtia Rush file, helps avoid Returns, stop opponent from playing cards and helps activate soul skills
Magic Doll -Exorcist- ** Counters Undeads and has SP drain action skill. Along with high attack, these make this doll one of the best.

Common Cards:
Magic Doll -Healer- * A good level 2 doll with excellent HP (for a doll) and can heal other dolls.
Magic Doll -Mobility- ** Fast, decent attack and free revive. A good doll to use.
Magic Doll -Lycanthrope- ** Average attack and good hp, nearly immortal at night, can suicide to deal lots of damage.
Magic Doll -Undead- ** Great hp for a doll, pretty low attack but acts as a very good staller/tank.
Magic Doll -Fencer- ** Stat wise the same as Exorcist, however with buffing start skill and double attack instead of SP drain abilities.
Magic Doll -Augmented- ** Fast free revive with decent attack and a good close skill.
Magic Doll -Grappler- ** Ignores DEF at agi 4, however the attack isn't very high.

Doll Master / Sumer ***** Excellent support unit for normal dolls, revives and buffs a friendly non-character doll on open.

Death's Embrace ** Excellent grimoire for annoying your opponents.
Bitter Destiny *** Well timed this grimoire can potentially win you a game.
Salamander * To kill owl sage

EX: Chaos Form / Noze EX Powerful late-game unit who is not too difficult to get out due to the number of free revival strategies of a Doll file.

Command Dolls (CMD dolls)
This file is another one of Lawtia's many rush orientated files, however this file uses the Command dolls which make use of having high LV to deal good damage. This file used to be one of the better Meta files but has died down recently, still a fairly good and viable file to use.

Key Cards:
Command Unit / White Lily *** Buffs all command dolls except itself, has a good action skill.
Command Unit / Scarlet Rose *** Your main front row unit, exceptionally tanky with 60 hp and the DEF boost from white lily.
Command Unit / Voilet X2 *** Buffs all Magic Doll subtype, and can instantly kill a unit for 1 sp when lv 6 or higher.

Common Cards:
Shade * Should be used in every single Lawtia Rush file, helps avoid Returns, stop opponent from playing cards and helps activate soul skills

Command Unit / Scarlet Rose **** Open buffs and close buffs friendly dolls, action skill may be useful.
Command Unit / Dear Cattleya *** Revives a friendly doll and gives Lv+2
Sumer & Fellana *** Multisphere Lv 2 card (Lawtia / Falkow) that is one of the best grimbaners in the game. Also returns dolls and can buff them.
Warning Knife ** Makes those super tanky units easy to kill.
Parts Recycle ** Revives a doll and gives Lv+2
Lady of the Megiddo / Belfyna *** makes the dolls faster.
Sylph * can be used to make Dear Cattleya's skill go off.
Hell Smoke ** to tank while you bring out the dolls.
Frost Sorceress / Rasam *** Excellent SS for many files but especially useful for command dolls.
Gravekeeper / Cornelia EX Powerful Reviver.

Trivia: The 3 main command dolls are named Command Unit / (Colour) (Flower), except Violet, as it would sound funny being Violet Voilet, so instead it's Violet X2

EN (Eternal Night)
This file is VERY aggressive and uses the cover of night to deal large amounts of damage with low level units who are very difficult to kill at night. The high rarity version of this file is one of the best rush files in the game capable of standing up to many other powerful files. EN concentrates on using the Lycanthropes, but the strategies are similar for EN and normal Lawt level 2 Rushes. Several cards for this file can be obtained from the 'Dark Rush' Prebuild file in the card shop.

Key Cards:
EX: Night Walker / Riza EX Can keep it night for your units
Cemetery Rats * Buffs all Lv 2 units on open (including opponents).
Assassin ** or similar SS to deal with higher level strong units.
Succubus * Makes it Night on open

Common Cards:
Lycanthrope [Legion] * Lv1 EN unit.
Lycanthrope [Taurus] ** Lv2 Tanky EN unit.
Lycanthrope [Fenrir] ** Very fast, High attack at night unit.
Lycanthrope [Nue] ** Max hp Hate unit with annoying close skill at night.
Lycanthrope [Dagon] ** Meta-grade EN uses this unit to grimbane (and hopefully get rid of) cyclones and Ball of Flames.
Lycanthrope [Lilith] ** Decent EN unit that deals 10 direct dmg at night
Lycanthrope [Leonardo] ** Extremely high attack ranged EN unit.
Ruler of Crest / Eskatia ***** Free revive unit that makes it night on start. Meta Grade EN uses this
Augmented Sorcerer * A double attack grimbane unit with a good open skill.
Azure Beastmaster ** For his Soul SKill
Price of Knowledge / Liz *** For her reviving Soul skill
Shield Coat / Fierte **** Nearly a requirement for Beating Big files, this and assassin can potentially give you 10 SP advantage.
Any other Level 1-2 lawtia unit you think would be useful.

Undeads
This file makes use of units that pretty much that are not only pretty much free revive, but also retain buffs (and debuffs) on revival. One of the easier Lawtia files to play and obtain cards for, nearly always good to use.

Key Cards:
Priestess of Madness ** Returns a random undead unit in cemetery to card file for free.

Common Cards:
Hell Smoke ** Undead that buffs attack on close, fairly tanky.
Lich ** Undead that returns 4 undead cards from the cemetery for 3 sp.
Revenant * Undead that buffs AGI on close, fast.
EX: Cursed Armour Knight EX Undead that has high attack and is immune to MAX HP hate.
Skeleton Archer * Undead that has Pinpoint ability which allows it to hit units who are immune to attack actions (one of undeads large weaknesses).
Broken Priest * Buffs undead units for 1 sp, as the buff is permanent it is fairly useful.
Zombie Lord / Zugateroza *** A good endgame unit for many lawtia files.
Noble Spectre * An undead ranged unit who debuffs on refresh.
Spirit Witch * Retrieves undeads on open. Can generate Gowen levels for multisphere fun.
Shade * Should be used in every single Lawtia Rush file, helps avoid Returns, stop opponent from playing cards and helps activate soul skills

Example Files:

Wild Dogs
The main idea of the file is to use SP draining skills and grims while overrunning your opponent with Wild Dogs, it plays like all lawtia level 3 rushes.

Key Cards:
Black Hound Master ** - the tribe buffer, really important for the file
Shade * - best level 1 unit lawtia has

Common Cards:
Black Hound * - high AT/AGI and works with Hound Master
Shadow Hound * - great focus skill, can attack twice
Magic Doll -Lycanthrope- ** - undying during night, can sacrifice herself to deal a lot of damage, enables the use of Sumer and Sumer & Fellana in Wild Dogs
Summoned Hound ** - great focus skill like Shadow and the open work with Hound Master's auto skill
Roar of Pain / Fierce EX - usually used because of the open, can become really dangerous if he levels up
Augmented Sorcerer * - grimbanes, double attacker and the open works with Hound Master
Sumer & Fellana *** - grimbanes for free and can return copies of Magic Doll -Lycanthrope-
Doll Master / Sumer ***** - used to revive Magic Doll -Lycanthrope- or other dolls added to the file
Exiled Military Aide * - used to get easy the falkow levels for the multisphere variant
Aurora *** - can be used in the dualsphere variant
Withdrawal Strategy * - return Shade or Sumer while returning enemies level 3 unit
EX: Lycanthrope [Fenrir] EX Scales attack and can potentially cause miniture death embrace-like effects with action skill.
Bitter Destiny ** - staple for lawtia rushes, usually with correct timing can be game breaking
Death's Embrace ** - for SP draining, ideally you use it before you field wipe your opponent, forcing him to let his unit dies without SP, then you play next turn Bitter Destiny for even more SP drain

Assassins
Assassins are a file that can be described as fielding a lot of "glass cannons". The aim of the file is to take down the enemy (units and LP) as quickly as possible. A majority of the file can hit hard at fairly high speeds are are known to die if poked. They have several tricks to their disposal to make up for not being able to take a hit. The file tends to have a few EX cards and 3*s making it hard to obtain the cards for.

Key units:
Night Assassin / Marchare EX - Iczer attacks for free. Can auto-skill double attack if focused and also soul immune.
Death Calling ** - essentially a salamander open for assassins but slightly more powerful. Action also brings down tanky units down to 10hp and stops them healing from standby allowing you to kill them with ease.

Common units:
Black Assassin / Mulna EX - Buffs an assassin on start. powerful level 2 unit. Action skill can be useful.
EX: Dance Macabre / Lelein EX - Versatile Open skill can save an assassin from open damage, heal an assassin or set an enemy unit down to low hp for easy killing or SS combo.
Crest Spy * - Tech'ed in to iczer rush those slower and higher LP files.
Magic Doll -Augmented- ** - A free revive doll that's fast and provides has some decent firepower.
Haste Assassin * - Can be used to take out a problem level 4.
Moonlight Assassin ** - Can 1 shot units at night for 1SP. Decent card in it's own right.
Black Dragonfly / Francis EX - Deals MAXHP damage and can time soul skills. Deals damage to high level units on close.
Magic Shade Soldier ** - Decent unit that drains SP on close.
Assassin Team EX - Fairly powerful and tank Lv4 assassin that can prevent the opponent from gaining SP at start of next turn.
Killing machine / LeBeau *** - Powerful 5AGI unit with a close skill that does some damage.
Fog of Death / Seria *** - Has soul skill which assassins can easily get to work using EX lelein or death calling open skills.
Shade * - Should be used in every single Lawtia Rush file, helps avoid Returns, stop opponent from playing cards and helps activate soul skills.
Death's Embrace ** - Excellent grimoire for annoying your opponents.
Bitter Destiny *** - Well timed this grimoire can potentially win you a game.
Warning Knife ** - Makes those super tanky units easy to kill.
Corruption ** - Similar use to warning knife.
Gravekeeper / Cornelia EX Powerful Reviver to make up for your units having next to no HP.

Mid Files

Duchy of Crest
The main idea is to get a field of Crest units and using the start skill buffs of Paladin to overwhelm your opponent. Most crest units don't have average agi(3) so cards like Knight of Crest / Langbart or and Undead tank are used to stall until more of your units get out. You could say the main theme of Crest is when you get a chance to hit, hit as hard as possible. This is more a Level 3-4 rush file.

Key Cards:
Crest Paladin ** - his Start Skills gives a huge temporary AT boost
Knight of Crest / Langbart EX - the open gives Lady Paladin a free AT boost and heal, his Start skill gives a small boost, counter makes him ideal to stall low HP rushes like pixies and the auto works against Undeads and helps reduce the number of cards Crest Mind Soldier and Crest Greatsword Soldier return
Shade * - best level 1 lawtia has

Common Cards:
Retired Loyalist / Graymas *** - his start solves the agi problem, giving even AGI+2 to non-char crest units making them agi 5, to trigger his skill you can use Prayer of Safety or Crest War Conference, once you get his start the best scenario is if you field wipe your opponent and then use his auto to get his focus for one more turn
Crest Lady Paladin ** - combos with Langbart and can get huge AT, sometimes even reaching 120 with AGI 4, bash can be really useful at that speed
Angry Mob * - used because of the open to raise temporary AT and the close skill guarantees a hit even if it does get to AT
Matchless Combatant / Yug **** - really strong field wipe skill
Guard Captain / Afeemina **** - gives permanent AT boost to friendly non char crest units and can use that AT for her skill
Crest Halberd Soldier * - ranged unit and his close skill is really good with the AT increase skills of other crest units
Crest Mindsoldier * - really high stats for his level, but with a negative close skill
Crest Greatsword Soldier * - same as Mindsoldier
Crest War Conference *** - depending on the skill you get really useful
Black Valkyrie / Igina EX - sometimes used in other lawtia rushes with Magic Doll Heavy Shield, if you get her AT to 50 she can double hit for 150 dmg for free
Crest Adjutant / Famille *** - Has a Bitter Destiny-like action skill. Also buffs the AGI of two friendly crest units for the turn.
Grand Duke's Private Guard ** - Extremely fast (5agi) when above 40hp. Has a pinpoint bash.
Grand Duke's Shock Trooper ** - Very tank and gains attack for MaxHP. Extremely powerful action skill which is difficult to get off (requires to be 20hp or lower). Close skill also very powerful but difficult to obtain.
Crest Blitz Swordswoman * - A psuedo free revive. Attack buff stacks which makes this a powerful level 3 unit offensively. Potential to 'generate' 1SP.
Crest Samurai * - Front row/psuedo ranged unit. Does lots of damage and increases range permanently (by 1) when focused. When 50AT or higher becomes immune to engage.
Prayer for Safety *** - used to focus Greymas or Metis or Yug

Augments / Abyssal Forces
This is more a Level 3-4 Rush file. This file makes use of Magic Doll -Augmented- and the Grimoire overdose to deal large amounts of damage for 1sp. This file is good to use vs rush files and can hold it's own against mid and big files when played properly. This is one of the easier files to play in the game. Most of the cards used in this file can be obtained in Set 11.

Key Cards:
Magic Doll -Augmented- ** Free revive and best card to combo with overdose
Overdose allows you to deal lots of damage during open phase.

Common cards:
Augmented Soldier Girl Gains AGI and attack when there are closed units. Can double attack for free
Augmented Soldier Fairly tank and when nearly killed gains a large AGI boost and an attack boost.
False Hero / Mordmarc *** Fairly tanky, has large attack power mid-late game.
Dark Princess / Gaiessoul **** Fast unit who is fairly good endgame. Also a mini merceless death on open.
Knight of the Abyss Another Augmented unit which can do lancer attack.
Warning Knife ** Helps deal with those annoying hard-to-kill cards.
Sacrifice *** Kills a friendly to kill an enemy, used to deal with those hard-to-kill cards
Bitter Destiny *** When timed right potentially game winning
Death's Embrace ** Combo with bitter destiny to potentially gain field wipe + massive sp sink for opponent.
Augmented Sorcerer * Double attack and grimbanes for 1SP
Crest Igniter * Another Augment
Chaoslady / Annarose **** Free revive, buffs attack and AGI of all lawtia units
Darkness Mirror / Aegis *** helps deal with bigs and can give your units several stat bonuses.
Killing Machine / LeBeau *** Fast with high attack and a decent close skill.

Big Files

Mid/Big Lawt

This is placed here so something is in this section.

This file is basically just a mash up of powerful high-level Lawtia units. It works really well because most of them are independent to each other, have their own role, and just plain powerful. But there always be a time when a unit is better-suited than any other units. It's all about flexibility.

Anyway, there are many plays available, but this file is notable for its jawesome crowd control. This is usually done by either playing Belus and another strong unit, or goes Zu, or Afel spam, or Shvara Close Fest. To a lesser extent, you can also use Dalos against squishy enemy units, or Chaos Annarose spam, or open with Augmented and Overdose spam, or the combo of Song of a Hero with Crest Veteran Slayer, or just a plain old Deathmaker. At least 1 unit with Undead trait is usually used, like regular Zugateroza, Dragon Zombie, or Zangadylan.

On rarity note, almost all the units mentioned here are characters, but you can use low-rarity cards (like Crest units). I personally think that Lawtia has the best collection of mid-leveled units in all rarity. My strongest file when I was level 30ish was actually mixed-rarity mid-lawt. With the exception of Francis EX and Starter Dalos, I was using low-rarity cards like Moonlight Assassin, Crest Veteran Swordswoman, Crest Devil Knight, and playing 2 copies of booty doll. Even if I lack a good crowd control card, I rely on early SS execution with double shade and booty doll to hinder my opponent's pace.

Key Cards:
- Soul Pact * Really, the only card that is essential to this file. Allow you to set those essential mid units faster. Also, allow Shade to temporarily have 20 AT, don't underestimate this one.

Common Cards:
- 6th Heaven Devil / Shvara EX If you add this to you file, also add ATK gain or suicide cards to make him shine. Overdose is the perfect example for this task.
- Black Dragonfly / Francis EX One of the most versatile unit in your arsenal. Attack kills Undead. Action is a 1 SP crowd control, but the LP-1 will either make or break. The close skill will weaken considerably, or downright kill mid-big units.
- Little Malice / Ellie EX Either use her or Shade. Ellie is better if you go Zu.
- Undead King / Zugateroza EX It's best used in mid-game/end-game where your Graveyard counts are sufficient and you are not overfielded much.
- Chaos Form / Annarose ***** Just spam her. There's really no other way to use her
- Deathmaker ***** Whenever you need removal. It's best used if you have a unit set already to follow-up with the destruction.
- Dark Emperor / Zu-jyuva ***** Sets both iczers to SP=0 and close skill has the potential to field wipe most rush units. Can force (and make more powerful) by using overdose.
- Beast Soldier / Belus **** Best used when paired with another strong unit. You should gather enough SP to play him AND another lvl4/5 unit immediately afterwards.
- Vile Swordsman / Afel **** I'm really tempted to upgrade this card's status to Key Cards, even more so than Belus. He is the ultimate field-wiper. 5 AGI and 70 AT means he's really good at 1-on-1 too. Persistent if you use it with Word of Dalos. You might want to pack Will o Wisp to counter Sala. Really, really, really good in any situations.
- Chaos Ogre / Dalos *** Good against squishy units, 1-on-1 or outnumbered.
- New Magic Doll / Astaforse *** Really shine if you go Zu. And Urgrant, but looks on Urgrant file if you haven't known his mightiness (or cheapness to some people). Best used alongside Belus. If she is alone, just let her die, or use Buster System if you have too much SP.
- Zombie Lord / Zugateroza *** OR Death Dragon / Zangadylan EX OR Dragon Zombie ** The king of 1-on-1 end-game.
- Merciless Death *** Read Deathmaker.
- Night Wing Wyvern ** Slow your opponent down. But it will also slow you down. This unit is a perfect follow-up if you already have strong presence like Belus-Something. It's also good to stall your opponent while you gather SP to set Zu.
- Shade * Lawtia seems lacking without this guy around. Though if you want to go Zu, you might want to consider using Ellie instead.
- Crest Devil Knight ** Decent unit with close skill that easily deals with 'glass cannon' type units.
- Crest Veteran Swordswoman * Fast unit with high attack, Bash and grimbane. Fairly decent all rounder unit.
- Dragon of the Mercurial Night ** Great HP, good attack and can drain sp.
- Knight of Second Death * Undead who is slightly immune to MaxHp hate. Otherwise a very powerful tank with high attack power.
- War Torn Dragonrider / Millia ** A powerful ranged mid unit who can potentially wipe out the opponent's field, providing you have the SP to feed her action skill.
- Pretty much any unmentioned level 4 or higher Lawtia units.

Tech:
- Sumer ***** Of course, use her only if you use any of the Magic Dolls mentioned below.
- Pure Terror *** An alternative to Deathmaker/Merciless Death. Treat it like Fire Arrow on steroid.
- Magic Doll -Augmented- ** Another mini-zu. Like both of them, use Overdose to blow the field. An excellent early game choice to kill rush file.
- Magic Doll -Exorcist- ** a.k.a. Booty Doll. High AT SP controller with anti-undead auto skill. An excellent early game choice to kill mid/big file.
- Bitter Destiny ** You have a lot of field-wipe and SP control, why not use this card? I'm a failure at using this card though :v
- Death's Embrace ** Excellent grimoire for annoying your opponents. Combos with Bitter Destiny
- Counterattack ** Best used with Chaos Annarose. The SP sink will not be as bad as with other units.
- Overdose ** To suicide Shvara, Zu, or MD -Augmented-.
- Stronghold of Chaos ** Shade in grimoire form. Also, you don't have to pay additional SP for playing great spirits.
- Word of Dalos ** Afel is on the house baby. Also good against rush if you use many characters.
- Consuming Grudge * Use this to execute Soul Skill early. 50 random damage is a nice addition though.
- Warning Knife/Corruption Allow you to kill super-tanky unit easily.
- Spirit Witch * To bring back some copies of your higher level undead units. Also generates 2 gowen levels when action skill is used allowing for some multisphere fun / song for a hero.
- Tears of Blood *** Fairly powerful late-game grimoire which can do lots of damage to two targets.
- Great Spirits are always good techs. At the very least Salamander to kill those pesky SP generators.
- Dragon Breath alternative to Salamander.

Mid/Big Lawt
- Chaos Form / Annarose ***** Just spam her. You will eventually outlast your opponent's field. You can even use Counterattack to field-wipe since this unit refund your SP as soon as you set her.

Don't do this unless you're sure you won't be using Annarose for the rest of the match. (ie, game is about to be over, an Annarose is already in the cemetery)

Dark Emperor / Zu-jyuva ***** Read Shvara, he is like a Mini-Zu.

Saying Shvara is like a mini-Zu is comparable to saying Sunday Afternoon Bringer is like a mini-Bringer. No.

- Zombie Lord / Zugateroza *** OR Death Dragon / Zangadylan EX OR Dragon Zombie ** The king of 1-on-1 end-game.

Dilate took their place :'(

- Consuming Grudge ** Preventing mass revival after you field-wipe. Add Bitter Destiny and you will laugh maniacally.

Death's Embrace just got booted out of the system. qq

I believe what he meant is that the Consuming Grudge is misspelled, it should have been Death Embrace. Now there are two Consuming Grudge in your post o.O

Those situations are usually plentiful enough. It can turn the table around if you need that extra push to kill 2 or more no-copies left units and the game is nearing the end. I still think one copy should be reserved if you are using Annarose. Most of the times, Annarose file usually has leftover spaces, so why not add a card that can synergize well with her :D

Opinions about xxxx?

Wild dogs don't seem great. Even carbuncles see more play.

En doesn't need assa ss, besides it's awful when it backfires.
I'd put dagon on the list of must have, even if only 2 copies.
Janus is an option after fierte goes off.
I'd personally try to see how Taurus works in the beginning before fierte, but not wait for sphere to reach 0.

As for dilate op version, it's worth even adding a proxy just to play the one copy. Super awesome damage sponge.

If you play urgant, Francis, shvara & devil knight add torife! Sure she is slow garbage in most cases but it seriously can matter. At least I'd give it a try, though she's probably dead weight without reviving for free.

Ya shvara is tad slow and a bit too costly!
You don't just want a chance. You want to be sure you win.

perhaps until the game is actually improved through change or perhaps forever since there are so damn many other games and better things to do @_@

Wild Dogs are awesome, I got them to 1900RP and HB got even once a win streak of 30 or something.
