They were eventually finished and distributed. If you were part of beta you got to chose from a single one of the various unique look and pose avatars, if you were also in alpha you get a unique equip for your chosen avatar. My primary avatar I use in game is actually my beta avatar with his alpha equip (along with an appropriate purchased background and pet for completion sake)
