I'm thinking microwaves.

And interior of that tunnel is probably so hot that drivers have to turn up their ACs, and in result, they burn up more gasoline and therefore it got approved by oil moguls.

Actually it should be cooler than direct sun-light since energy is being redirected somewhere else.

Looks cool Pera. Shame we cannot have anything nice in America anymore without a subset of our population destroying it. Innovations like these are needed for future development. Financially speaking, all of these cities where the projects could do most good are running major deficits. Might be only feasible in Seattle or Portland or perhaps some of the northeastern states but the sunlight might be the limiting factor.
