The problem is that all Japanese fonts are standard, while American fonts are fast and loose. The fonts you see in the game are taken from your computer, and depending on what fonts you have installed it might look slightly different. I've noticed that things work best when you have Photoshop or another Adobe product installed, since they install a lot of extra fonts. Macs look pretty good, but the fonts tend to be big and the entire name text block doesn't always fit in the space. We are working on several solutions, soon we might set up some way for people to post screencaps of problems. Before all you programmers tell us how we can fix it, don't forget that we don't control the code itself so getting it fixed will be something of a process.
Also, we recently became aware of "squares" or "garbage characters" floating around. A lot of these are simple things like: commas, colons, semi-colons, etc. It's just that they're the ones from the Japanese character set, not the English character set. They look the same on our machines, since we get 20 emails a day from Japan, we all have Japanese fonts installed on all our computers, but if you don't have Japanese language support installed, they look like little squares. This we will hopefully have fixed this week.
