If that's the only thing they say, they are probably just trying to be polite.
I know you know that already, I just wanted to say it in case someone who didn't got the wrong idea.

I hate when people say "gl" and "gg."

I'd rather have a person not communicate with me at all than have to read non-words.

I'm also not a fan of "gg" and say "good game" because whenever I hear "gg" I just think of this clip. Maybe I'm just a crotchety old guy who prefers to type things out instead of using internet chatspeak and acronyms.

Wow, seems like most people are against it.. I'm a heavy FPS gamer so I have no problems with people using an acronym. It's simple enough to know their intentions. Grain, you come off sounding pretty harsh, they're just trying to be friendly.

Im with you, for me gg == good game. I played a lot of Starcraft back in High School so I guess that's where it comes from. *shrugs*

honestly, gg has become more of a taunt then a welcoming word.
the last thing i want to hear after getting pwned by a falkow deck after getting spammed with returns, undines, and song sorceress is "gg"

its like, dude...you didnt even give me a chance to fight back.
if your LP is 4 or more higher, keep quiet and dont say gg, its adding salt to the wound.

You feel that their politeness is patronization.

But, are they truly patronizing you, or, do you just feel inferior?
