DWildstar, same here. I come up with nicknames based on the first impression I got from the cards, changed over time. Sometimes it makes a little story, other times it can be an awkward phrase, but that just helps the cause. Of course, there's about three pairs where I accidentally gave them the same name.

Catherina is Loli
Annarose is Rose
Shade is Shade
Skeleton Master is Bone
Brave Soldier and Magic Weapon or both Sword
Panther Soul is Wolf
Folrart Paladin is Pally
Brutal Inquisitor is Fruit (Don't ask...)
Dryad is Cup (Same...)

Had to change some names for/from the Summer event, though. Guard stayed Guard, Doll stayed Doll. Lapierre went from Whip to Yukata and back. Archer Scout went from a second Loli to Pink.

And so on and so forth. Goofy names seem to stick in my head better than serious ones.

Although now I wonder if I'll need to come up with nicknames for the Four Angels, or *horror* if the EX versions can appear in the same game as their regular counterparts? That'd be horrible!

Castle Wight is Curtain (I have no idea where this is from, I guess he looks like a curtain)
Counterattack is Brown
Tempest is Weather
Defau is Lightning
Death Incarnate is Mess (I just thought the background part looked like a big mess)
Undine/Peregrine Paladin are blue
Brutal Inquisitor/Swan Cavalier is pink
