The Circle's List of File Types - Multisphere

Postby Jazzock » Fri Nov 02, 2012 10:34 pm

This is an outline of several files types that use multiple spheres and the common cards found within it. These threads are essentially an updated version of Harvests threads. These aim to make it easier for newer players to see what works well together and hopefully allow them to make their own exciting files. I'd like to thank The Circle - Especially Teru who helped make the outlines and provided some links. Prinzripper deserves a special mention for providing Spyclone. I'd also like to thank everyone who gave their support in doing this. Special Thanks once again to harvest4god who inspired these threads. I will try to keep these updated.

Lawtia / Falkow

Urgrant
Lawtia/Falkow Multisphere file that aims to disrupt enemy resources followed by field control. A combination of Lawtia's advantage (sp control) and falkow's advantages (Field control). The main unit is Urgrant which builds lawtia levels and provides SP control. Backed up by powerful mid-big lawtia units and grimoires, along with falkow's ultility makes this a formidable file to play against.

Key Cards:
Mage Knight Fencer / Urgrant *** The unit the file is named after, obviously included.
Wrath of the Sea Lord *** To remove a pesky Lv4 unit.
Return * To remove those pesky Lv3 units.
Cyclone Teach those level 2 rushes a lesson.

Other cards:
Beast Soldier / Belus **** excellent Mid-lawtia unit with a good start skill and decent damage, nearly a must have in any file that reaches lawtia 5.
New Magic Doll / Astaforse *** a pretty fast and tanky unit that gets a permanant attack boost each turn based on your lawtia level.
Deathmaker ***** Remove target unit, and kill another. What more could you want?
Merciless Death *** Remove target unit, good for getting rid of those pesky/big units.
Sweeping Tidalwave ** to gain sp advantage
Witch Queen / Catherina ***** For opening.
Elite Fencer of Regus ** Agi Control
Mermaid Wizardess / Faytis *** Field control
Exiled Military Aide ** For open

Spyclone
This File concentrates on keeping the opponent off the field and iczer attacking with Crest spy as she does LP-3 when she iczer attacks. This file is known to win games in under 8 turns fairly often if played right.

Key Cards:
Crest Spy * Well obviously included as the file is made to take advantage of her trait.
Death's Embrace ** Aide in stopping the opponent in reviving units.
Return type Grimoires
SP generation soul skills.

Common Cards:
Shade * Activate SS and keep opponent low on sp
Magic Doll -Defective- * Activate SS
Owl Sage ** As soul skill to give falkow levels
Sorcerer Monk of Regus ** To kill units.
Stronghold of Chaos ** To Lower opponent sphere Levels
Exchange of Souls * keep opponent's SP low
Crest Greatsword Soldier * To kill stuff
Haste Assassin * To remove stuff
Crest Mindsoldier * To kill stuff
Slave of Chaos / Ebreenu Can be used to lower the level of an opponent to returnable levels

Example Files:
Don't got

Causality
This file aims to lock down the opponent's file by draining sphere levels and engaging and/or killing the opponent's units. It relies on two cards: Keeper of Causality / Sumer, and Guide of Causality / Fellana to do this. Sumer and Fellana thankfully aide each other to do this and together can effectively take on 3-4 units while being fairly difficult to take care of during open and soul skill phases. This file is fairly high rarity and is very much "all your eggs in one basket."

Key Cards:
Keeper of Causality / Sumer **** - One of the two main cards. She'll provide the main form of damage (requires 0 lawtia) and helps keep your field alive by lowering the AGI and AT of enemy units. Can revive other cards which are both Lawtia and Falkow on start.
Guide of Causality / Fellana ****- The other of the two main cards. She does sphere drain and can engage an enemy unit of 0AGI or lower for until the end of next turn. Can also revive other cards which are both Lawtia and Falkow on start.

Common Cards:
Exiled Military Aide ** - early game unit that helps get required sphere levels to play Sumer and Fellana.
Moonlight Princess / Eskatia ***** - Drains Sp on start. Can provide another way of losing your own sphere levels for Sumer's Auto skill.
Prototype Form / Noze **** - Start can help you keep your own Lawtia levels down to kill opponent's units. Fairly good unit in her own right.
Cursed Runesword Fighter ** - Auto can help keep Lawtia levels down to keep Sumer killing opponent's cards.
Undine * - open skill AGI manipulation. Can also be used in combination with Fellana's auto skill to engage an enemy unit until the end of next turn.
Princess of the Key / Emana ***** - Powerful AGI manipulator with undine open skill as a start skill. Can also revive friendly units with action skill.
Dark Princess / Gaiessoul ***** - Open skill can remove a problematic unit and also set your Lawtia level to 0 for Sumer to deal damage.
Undead-style tank.
Return grimoires.

Lawtia / Gowen

Gowen Dolls

The idea of this file is to use Lawtia sphere draining abilities and Gowen's open damage cards with strong stand alone units like Lost Magic Doll / Esria. The soul skill line up usually uses SP drain soul skills like Gafc and Hellspawn / Zalzagul.

Key Cards:
Proxy of Soul / Animus *** - to generate Gowen levels

Common Cards:
Shade * - open
Salamander * - open damage (kill that Owl Sage/KP before it poops SP)
Crest Saboteur Knight * - same as Animus
Magic Doll -Exorcist- ** - mainly used because of the SP drain
Esria & Astaforse *** - use her open damage with Shavara or Augmented Doll/ EX Mercenary Girl, on the field a really strong unit with AGI and at least 40 AT if your gowen and lawtia levels are 4
Reborn Magic Doll / Astaforse *** - she snowballs AT and can double hit for 1 SP
Lost Magic Doll / Esria EX - open skill gives a nice buff to a friendly Magic Doll unit and she hits hard at AGI 4
Awakened Magic Doll / Esria ***** - triple Attack for 1 SP
Black Dragonfly / Francis EX - really strong unit with MaxHP hate and a great close skill
6th Heaven Devil / Shvara EX - his close skill sends units directly to grave
Mad Beast / Dandan *** - strong stand alone unit
Doll Master / Sumer ***** - if you are using Exorcist or any other non character Magic Doll, use her
Dark Princess / Gaiessoul **** - end game you can use her once you don't need anymore lawtia levels
EX: Chaos Form / Noze EX - Powerful late-ish unit as gowen dolls tend to get fairly high Lawtia levels. Powerful and difficult to kill with a corruption auto skill.

Grims:
Stronghold of Chaos ** - alternative to Crest Saboteur Knight, doesn't trigger soul skills but reduces sphere levels
Death's Embrace ** - SP drain
Bitter Destiny ** - lawtia staple, use it on big units like Allind after you kill it
Ball of Flame * - open damage
Rapid Growth ** - SP gen
Soul Pact * - SP gen

Gowen Dolls

Refess / Falkow

Marduk
Refess/Falkow Multisphere file that has a two major playstyles, a more aggressive version and a slower more defensive (and arguably makes better use of marduk) version. The aggressive version tends to use stardragon and deal lots of damage whereas the defensive version plans to outlast the opponent using tanky refess units to provide a shield for Marduk to gain SP.

Key Cards:
Mage Knight Lancer / Marduk *** Obviously included.
Unwanted Charity ** Helps avoid assassin SS and chance for SP gain and/or
The General's Order *** gives AT boost and helps avoid assassin SS

Other cards:
Star Dragon ** Used in the aggressive style of Marduk
True Holy Emperor / Retear ***** Revive on open, auto skill to bring cards back in from the cemetery and since you'll be 9 refess anyway, why not?
Veteran Folrart Paladin ** Super tank Lv5 unit.
5th Shrine Leader / Judie Good buffer with good open skill
Right-Hand Shield / Garfath **** Good open and helps makes your tanks tankier
Star Lord / Bastandorra *** Also called the 'spaceship', pretty tanky and does lots of damage without lowering sphere levels!
Archer Captain / Fistara **** Does damage based on refess level that is pinpoint.
The Impregnable / Rubens ***** Super tanky refess unit.
Return Grims
Judgement Hamer *** DEF ignoring damage grim
Like the Hand of God *** Instantly kills most units
Refugee Spear Master / Aria Grimlocks opponent is always good
One of the many ways to open.

Refess / Gowen

Toro Warriors (Refess warriors / TJC)
Refess/Gowen Multisphere file using mainly refess warriors, specifically Toromea, who raises the attack and speed of a friendly refess warrior. This file can quickly cut down files such as Pixies and still has many ways to deal with mid-big files. Aims to Hit fast and Hard. More infomation in Khiruki's guide (linked below).

Key Cards:
Sword of the East / Toromea *** Key unit to the file
Folrart Dual-Wielding Soldier * Slaughters those rushes when combined with Toromea.

Other Cards:
Legendary Heroine / Catira EX Great for taking out big units, combos well with Justice, potentially immortal.
Unknown Warrior / Justice **** Gives perm attack buff, combos with Catira and can deal some nice damage herself.
Elite Folrart Dual Wielder * Combos with Toromea to use its action skill, fairly high base attack.
Folrart Berserker * Possible mid-late game unit with decent stats.
Amazon ** Lv3 gowen unit that buffs warriors
Like the Hand of God *** Instantly kills most units
The General's Order *** gives AT boost and helps avoid assassin SS
Folrart Flame Swordsman ** Helps open the file.
Miracle Fruit ** Helps units avoid returns.
The Fate of Esria ** as above but is free in terms of SP
EX: Light Magic Archer EX Powerful level 2 unit with a free start-phase lancer every other turn (unaided)
Salamander * To kill owl sages/activate soul skills/ finish off or put opponent units into killing range.
The pixies that can lock files could be put in for ultility

Gowen / Falkow

Mage Soldiers
This file plays fairly aggressively using the advantage of being immune to attack and high agi. This file can generate lots of SP with the use of Anttila and Ryu.

Key Cards:
Mage Knight Fighter / Ryu Does double attack essentially with slight debuffs. When used in a combo with Balmoa, he can possibly take out a Stardragon.
Elemental Soldier / Balmoa Provides attack immunity to friendly Mage Soldiers, essential to the file.

Common Cards:
Flash Pixy / Chamail Decent Lv2 unit that has good stats, possibly 4 agi too and buffs friendly mage soldier infront.
Forest Sorceress / Anttila *** Generates up 3 extra sp/turn with Ryu
Wizard Knight / Mizarria *** The small buffs by the other mage soldiers allow him to prove useful
Hunter / Rosa EX Buffs make her auto skill deal some extra damage, slows down opponent files.
Silver Fencer / Ascarat *** Returns Wizard Kingdom units back to the card file from the cemetery.
Elemental Burst Buffs friendly units for a turn and deals small amounts of damage, essentially 1SP when balmoa is on the field.
Falkow Pike *** Also known as Falkow Pockey, can deal LOTS of damage to a target column.
EX: Mermaid Soldier [Human] EX Level 2 unit with some AGI manipulation and possible AT stacking and possible double attacking.
Return Grims
Any other Gowen or Falkow Mage soldier.

Refess / Lawtia

Game Over

Thanks to shadowsketch for providing this.

A Game Over file is a file which uses the namesake card Game Over ***. The basic gameplan is to develop a better field on your side so the opponent has to compensate by increasing their field, making them extend more into the Game Over. While it will set units to 0 HP and SP to 0 on both sides, the key is to lessen the impact better than the opponent. There are two parts to it -- unit selection and timing.

What are some good units for it?
Units that are good for Game Over files are grimmune or have an ability that saves other units upon close. They are units that are going to either hang out on the field after a Game Over or help other units hang out. Some examples:

Solar Princess / Aliria ***** - Restores 10 HP to all your units post-Game Over.
Knight of Frailty / Etoile *** - Heals all your Solar Kingdom Units AND gives you SP for each unit refreshed this way.Undead King / Zugateroza EX - Just loses some MAX HP on close, but stays on the field, tanks.
Phoenix Chick * - Survives if it's in level 5 form, tanks.
3rd Emperor / Joachim EX - Grimmune, tanks, also can engage itself if you're expecting an assassin SS.
Hellspawn / Zalzagul ***** - Grimmune, SS-mune

In addition, you want to time your Game Over to put yourself in a better position than your opponent. Consider these signals to look out for if your considering a Game Over:
-Your opponent has no closed units
-You have no open units and some closed units
-You have some grimmune units or some recovery-on-close units and some closed units
-You have a few excess SP you can put into sphere levels for future units.
-Your opponent has units you don't like

What are some good grims?
Game Over *** - Namesake card
Recovery Powder ** - Gains SP, saves units from Salamander
Soul Pact ** - Gains SP, provides an ATK boost
Deathmaker ***** - Good post Game Over and for problem units
Merciless Death *** - Good post Game Over and for problem units

Example file:
Game Over

Some mids/bigs with Game Over. Opening is 4 Ref > Emerald Buncle, Limier, Mediator, then depending on the matchup you go from there. Shadow Spirit gives some much-needed ranged attack, Fortune shuts down some key opposing units (Dio, EFrog, Undeads, Dilate, etc.), and Garfath gives some non-grim healing. Zangadylan is an optional finisher, mostly for in case of heavy grim bane.

Originally I had a 50-DMG SS in the second slot, but I switched to a 15xLVL SS for BK Rivera matchups.

Bad Matchups:
Solar Kingdom - Main problem cards are Aliria and Etoile, and to a lesser extent Safiria.
Bk Rivera - Ultimately it comes down to if you're able to take down BK early enough. It can be problems if your units are hitting stuff like Dilate or EX Merc Girl.
Heavy Grim Bane - Sometimes that Game Over's needed and without it you just get swarmed.
Fierte SS - Just since this file has high Sphere level requirements.

Other Versions:
I want to try a strictly Solar Kingdom version.

Example matchup:
vs. Mid Refess

EX: AZL (Mid-undeads)
This file basically uses EX: Ancient Zombie Lord (AZL) to force close skills of friendly undeads without actually making them lose a copy of themselves, with the exception of itself. The file also uses lots of cemetery retrieval to keep EX:AZL alive. It basically win's its games by playing a few units who are very difficult to take out and just outlast the opponent.

Key Cards:
EX: Ancient Zombie Lord (AZL) EX - Powerful close skill. Can force close skills and aide in keeping undeads alive longer.
Spirit Witch * - Open skill returns 2 undeads from the cemetery to the card file.

Common Cards:
Death Dragonknight / Langbart *** - AoE auto skill which gets stronger the more his close activates. He also stacks AT on close. Undead
Marching Death * - Tank and can buff friendly unit's MAX HP. Undead
Knight of 2nd Death * - Tank and semi-immune to MAX HP hate. Undead
Hell Smoke ** - One of the better lawtia tank units. Perm buffs a friendly unit's AT on close. Undead
Spirit Witch * - Open skill returns 2 undead cards from the cemetery to the file.
Lady of Conflict / Annarose EX - great cemetery retrieval card.
Solar Prince / Verlaat ***** - Soul skill retrieves 2 cards and gives you +1SP.
Over Soul * - Raises Refess level and returns newest card in cemetery to file.
Dark Confederation * - Makes your units immune to MAX HP change effects until the end of next turn.
Game Over *** - A good last ditch effort grimoire. Especially good as most of your units are undead so they will not actually close.
Other undeads.
SP gen. grimoires

File Destruction
This type of file aims to... destroy the opponent's file before they play all of it. There are two main types, the lawtia/gowen type and the lawtia/falkow type. There are nearly no 'Key Cards' to this file as there are many ways to play it. The Gowen variant is easier to use and more stable then the falkow variant.

Common Cards:
Dance Macabre / Lelein *** Used to kill off last units the opponent may have.
Word of Dalos ** Combo with Lelein or Afel to kill of the last opponents and return copies of these units from your cemetery.
Vile Swordsman / Afel **** Can field wipe for 4 sp.
Refugee Citizens * Used to grimbane.
Magma Golem * Removes a card from opponents file on close.
Giant Gorilla ** Combos with magma golem to keep it alive.
Oversoul * Keep your removal units alive.
Turn to Dust * Removes a card from the opponents file.
Stronghold of Chaos ** Sometimes used during opening phases.
Soldier of Gaia ** Action skill removes a card.
Black Dragonfly / Francis EX Sometimes used to deal with bigger units.
Observer / Lria EX Used as SS.
Defender of Seasons / Sakon EX Could be used as a substitute soul skill.
Child of Chaos / Annarose EX Used in the Falkow Variant.
Chaos Absorption Very good file destruction grimoire, used in falkow variant.
Simulacrum of Annarose Can be used to remove cards in opponent's card file.
Lost Tome * Can be used to bane a grimoire.
Any other card with effects similar to these can be used.

Belus is not key in Urgrant. Deathmaker/Merc Death and Cyclone however, is.

Well, I think skill's sayin that it's super commonly used, but not necessary to the file. You can pair Urg with other lvl 3-5 units and have reasonably similar success.

I rather concur with hoboken, the "Key card" line is a bit blurry.
Are those required?
Are they recommended?

Toromea files can go very well without Justice. She turns into an ultimate bonus if Catira is added, but is by herself not necessary, whereas FFS IS necessary for a smooth opening process. (You have also forgotten Ermitage)
