Thoughts on RP Decay?

So the concept is simple, decrease RP by an amount after a period of not playing in a tournament arena only if its over a certain value (say 1600 for now). The concept's the same thing from League of Legends, and you can fancy it up with different ranks, prizes, etc.

These are the pluses and minuses I see:

+ Encourages people to play to maintain RP.
+ Prevents people from building up RP and sitting on it.
+ Can make top RP standings less static

- (Don't know any, open to suggestions)

Not saying to put it in, just would like to hear people's thoughts.

It does usually happened at 2100++.

It's a good idea, but it should accelerate with every day of inactivity.

Very few people care about RP though, don't see any point in adding RP decay.

RP means nothing. Its just for bragging rights. Unless they start giving out rewards of top RP, then there's no reason to add any sort of decay.

This won't affect people now--this is more of a proactive solution.

The point of adding RP decay would be to add incentives. As it is now there is no point to RP decay.

It's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. In a prize-for-RP environment (EG GC) combined with the polarized format of Alteil in general these days, 2200 will be an impossibility going forward because no one file can really take on all comers.

The number doesn't event matter. If people are playing and they can't pass a certain threshold (like right now it appears to be 1900), then people can just camp people, pass that mark, then sit on that number.

GL HF camping with all the polarization out there. EG if there's a WK vs. big red match and you want to camp that, what the heck are you going to camp it with?

You don't. The good thing about this polarization is that you usually know what matchups you're going to win and which ones you're not, so if you see a large amount of a certain file being played, you just don't play.
