Is there some requirement to activate Etoile's close?

I was single playering, and had blessed acolyte and guardian up front and etoile in the second. they ended up killing all my units, but etoile didnt revive guardian or blessed acolyte? did I do something wrong? thanks for any help.

Etoiles close activates when she dies and other units asides from herself are below 0HP. So if you died to mass damage (such as Allind) and etoile died with other units, her close would save them.

I see, so she has to die the same turn as them and not after them?

Yep. It only works when the opponent does some kind of mass damage spell that kills multiple units all one blow.
