Nerds of the world unite: it's rankings time

So this is going to be a very short/long work week for me. Monday and Tuesday in office then Wednesday is a flight and booth set up in lovely Indianapolis Indiana...

Following that is 4 fun filled days of Gencon magic. The funny thing is I've been to Gencon 3 years in a row now and of all my friends I'm probably the least interested. For me D&D was fun in middle school when I had enough time to devote to it and it still involved imagination instead of maps and miniatures. My friends and I always thought the people who wasted all their money on those miniatures where fools. Not to say I didn't have a few pewter figures of my own (not the least of which where the terror bears of TMNT "fame"), but I just never used them in the game. Now it's all gridded maps and foam/plastic walls and props and such. Ironically i think it's the fault of video games. Back when D&D and other rpgs where new there was nothing even close to that experience. Now with WoW and all the other incredibly complex RPG's available to play on consoles and PCs it's hard for people to get into sitting around with soem dice and paper and "playing pretend" with their friends for hours on end.

Anyway where was I? Oh right... I don't care for Gencon as a con to go to. I liek Alteil a lot and wish I had more time to play, but card games are hardly my first love. Probably nto even int he top 10. RPG's aren't what they used to be and I just don't have the time or funding necessary to the whole table top thing. That being said I love going to Gencon. Considering what most anime conventions have turned into it's great to be surrounded by a fandom of reasonably mature people. Perhaps I'm starting to sound like a curmudgeon (I'd did turn 30 last month) but I could do without the 50 people conga lines of kids with boom-boxes doing that wierd floppy hands next to your heads dance. You know the one. The screaming, the sitting on the floor, etc, etc... very little of that at Gencon. Good times. On that note, anyone else going to be there?

Summer Showdown Tournament Series Continues FRI
Written by Logress

It's time to continue our FREE SUMMER SHOWDOWN SERIES.  This is the third one, so I guess it's okay to call it a series.  The plan is to have a kind of end-of-year invitational event based on the top duelists from all these free duels this summer!

Our latest showdown will be this FRIDAY THE 6TH, and also Saturday and Sunday.  This is an OFFICIAL Tournament Arena tournament, so that means you just have to show up on Friday and hit the Tournament  Button on the Game Tab.  No sign up s in advance necessary, you can even only play 1 or 2 days if you want. Because of the way Win Percent works, you still will have a shot.

There will be a new rule.  On Saturday's time slot, for the first 15 minutes there will be a chance to start over.  That means if you got a bad draw or ran out of stars are are somehow doing badly and want another chance, from 7:00 to 7:15 on Sat, you can exit the tournament and re-enter!  Now, savvy Iczers might realize what a huge advantage this can be for WIN Percent, so to make it fair WIN Percent will NOT reset. In other words, you'll get a new chance to draw cards, and you'll be reset to 10 stars, but that is all!

The rest of the details...

Here's a quick reminder that the deadline for the current Arakis' Quest, the Double Copy Quest, is this coming Monday (8/2) at 12 noon EST.  Be sure to submit your entry and resolve any issues with it by that time.  Entries are somewhat on the low side, but I imagine they will pick up before the deadline.

This has been well covered in the forum but I thought I'd take this ranking time to cover a few things about our now slightly smaller team here at Alteil USA...

Hello everyone! Anna and I will be the first to admit that we haven't be as active in the community as we used to be. But circumstances are such that the two of us are moving onto greener pastures and will no longer be providing our services as GMs for Alteil. Thank you very much for your enthusiasm and support during our time here, but we pass the torch onto the other GMs and wish them the best of luck.

We'll check our PMs until the end of July, but after that please direct all inquiries to Logress or Lupos.

Upcoming Errata August 10
Written by Logress

As many of you know, we've been planning a round of Errata (re-balancing).  The Japanese decided it was worth having their whole balance team do a run of all the cards with the changed ones added. We had to schedule it with them, so the due date has been set at August 10. Mark you calendars!
I got your rankings right here mark twain!

I've got Alan Wake on the brain. You got a problem with that Steven King? I plowed through it in a couple of evenings and I loved it. I highly recommend you check it out if you've got a 360. It's one of the best single player games I've played in a long time...

... Edgar Alan Poe! One of the worst but best parts of the game is a stereotypically overzealous FBI agent who likes to always call Alan, the protagonist, different famous authors (as he is a famous author). It's so Michael Bay cheesy, but in the midst of the high tensions seriousness that makes up most of the game it's a welcome bit of comic relief. Ain't that right Homer!?

As always anyone who has fought in the arena and explored his own Psyche to discover the where abouts of his missing wife receives at least 10 gran. Listed below are your top 5 Iczers, top 3 Guilds, Guild who leveled up and Guilds that have become official.
