Our esteemed partner, Asiasoft, will be hosting a live tournament in Singapore tomorrow 1:30 PM, which I believe is 1:30 AM EST.  Unfortunately you actually have to be there physically to play, but matches will be held in training so you can at least go and watch.  Hopefully this will be a regular event to drum up support and interest in Singapore!  If you're around, drop in to Training!

Biggest Ever Seasonal Card Sale Starts Fri!
Written by Logress
Wednesday, 07 October 2009 21:22

Starting Friday, the 9th, through Monday, the 12th of October, we will be having a Seasonal Card Lottery!  Why is this the biggest ever?  Well, first of all it's four days, which is the longest we've had one up.  Second, is we're adding two whole seasons of cards in, Spring and Summer, making it the most new cards and the most cards ever in a Seasonal Lottery. But more importantly, what makes this seasonal event so good is that four of the new cards are MUST HAVE cards, I'm talking about Guardian, Kurina, Renally, and Girl Specter!  Just kidding, that Girl Specter joke never gets old... anyway Meaning of Failure is there too. Lawtia will have to console itself with the number of favorite older Lawtia cards making re-appearences, like Annarose and a certain three headed dragon.

For those of you who haven't been here for one of our seasonal events or sales, we periodically replace card art for certain cards during our seasonal events. One might recall Halloween last year, and the possibility of a new Halloween event in the very near future, for example.  After a seasonal event, the new card art disappears. However, we periodically have Seasonal Card SALES, where you play a small lottery to for permanent versions of the seasonal cards. This is the only chance to get this unique art, but on top of that, since the pool of seasonal cards is very small, if you happen to want a card that has a seasonal version, your chances of getting it will be much higher than usual.

So Guardian is Rarity 1, normally the lottery has like 5 Sets of Rarity 1 cards. But the Seasonal Lottery has more like 5 of them. So if you play the Seasonal Lot, chances are you'll get piles of them. If you happen to WANT a few Guardians, Friday could be a very good day for you.

Note: Fairy Dance will not have a seasonal card, because the alternate art we used last Spring was really a preview of the card Fairy Heroine / Mitzitt, and not a seasonal card.

For reference, here is the list of seasonal cards available:

Archer Scout
Sorcerer Guard
Saber Saint / Lapierre
Magic Doll
Black Cat / Fellana
Lycanthrope [Seraph]
Dark Emperor / Zu-jyuva
Devouring Lizard
Lion Baron / Zagar
Chaoslady / Annarose
Magic Sword Dual-Wielder
Bellydancer / Kurina
Folrart Guardian
Girl Spectre
Guard Leader / Renally
Realm Guardian / Mayleen
Black Dragonrider / Millia

We probably should of saved the Van Halen references for this seeing as Zombieland has one of their songs prominently featured. Well Metallica's For Whom the Bell Tolls is also featured in the opening credits. So maybe we should have went with For Whom the Rank Tolls. But we didn't, did we? Hindsight is 20/20 and it's hosted by John Stossel (ask your parents... or grandparents).

Hmmm... I suppose there should be a word of wisdom for all our Alteil players. Something maybe about how you should never play Alteil in a bathroom or how you should always have an extra escape plan. All of these things are important during a zombie apocalyp... errr we mean a round of Alteil.

As always, anyone who survived the zombie onslaught AND fought in the arena at least once this week will receive 10 gran. Listed below are your top 5 ranked Iczers, top 3 guilds, and guilds that have become official.

1* Rarity Quest Results
Written by Edgar Figaro
Monday, 05 October 2009 16:17

Our new contest, Arakis' Quest, has gotten off to a running start.

Judging by the number of entries for the first Quest, it's at least as popular as Across the Spectrum was in its heyday.  For its first outing, we wanted to keep it simple so we went with those most common of cards, the 1-star rarity set.  Next time we'll start getting into some more esoteric restrictions, but read on to see how it went down this time...

Reinforcement Packs days are numbered
Written by Logress
Sunday, 04 October 2009 03:07

The Reinforcement Packs, a fixed pack of cards available right now in the shop under EX Cards, will be removed from the shop on October 16, and replaced with a new type of card pack.  If you've got your eyes on the Reinforcement packs, now is the time to grab them!

Many of our users are big fans of Reinforcement Packs, because they let you get the exact cards you want for a fixed price. However, we were hoping it would be a good choice for first time buyers, but it has appealed instead to more experienced users who happen to need those specific cards. This is probably because the cost per card was a little high, so you really had to understand the value of those specific cards to be interested. Meaning, the target audience for them was a smaller then we had thought, and really overlapped with the EX Packs more than we had planned.  As the first part of a new initiative to offer choices in our Card Shop that appeal to a wider range of players, we will be creating a Card Pack that will be perfect for first time buyers who want more playable cards and more options. After that we will move on to introduce card packs to provide more options for the advanced players.

For now, let's call this new pack the "Beginner's Pack," and while the final details haven't been set in stone, we're pretty sure what it'll look like. First, there will be some randomness, but within limits. This will be achieved by a maximum number of Grimoires available per pack, a maximum of 3 copies of any particular card, and a heavily restricted rarity 1 card pool (the list will be available on the site). What this means is that you'll have a good idea of what you'll get, and you'll get playsets of several cards right away. However, new players will still have the excitement of getting new cards in a random pack.  Second, and most important, is that the Beginner's packs will have a low cost per card, more than the lottery but not too much more.  This will make it a no-brainer for users who don't have the cards.  Lastly, we can always change the list of available cards as new packs come out. This is something of an expermient, like the reinforcement packs, so we will probably put the Beginner's Pack out for a limited time, and then see how everyone likes them and go from there.
