Treasure Hunter indeed Mr. Locke Cole. And it's treasure he's found. All new Wallpapers are available for the picking. We've ran all the way through Set 4 and picked the best art to adorn your computer desktop or laptop with.

Gau: Gau's treasure...shiny, shiny! Shiny, shiny, shiny!!!
Sabin: ...Can anything be THAT shiny?

Yes it can Sabin, yes it can.

Okay, so people want a preview. Also, people have been asking why it doesn't say on the main page that set 5 cards will be immediately available for level ups. That's because I gotta change the level up scripts one level at a time to make that happen... so yeah, give me half a day or so.

Mermaid Princess Emana
She's your basic level 3, 30 HP support unit. Her start skill, as many have guessed from the Japanese game, is to grant all friendly [subtype: mermaid] units immunity to the Attack action, except herself. That means you have to keep her in the back, because if she's in range of something and everything else you have is a mermaid, that something will _always_ hit her. There is another Mermaid in this set that grants an AT bonus to all units on both sides of the field every turn. This works well Emana, since she can assure that only your side will get to actually use that bonus. It also works well with Balzelda, because that replenishable AT bonus means she can use her special ability every turn... maybe on that one unit with enough range to hit your Emana.

Priestess of Madness
This little level two Lawtia unit will be the cornerstone of a lot of future games. She's got a huge 40 HP for a level 2 support unit, and a FREE action skill to move a random [subtype: undead] unit from the Cemetery back to your Card File. Imagine that with Skeleton Warrior. Now, imagine that set 5 has two new units with Skeleton Warrior's self-reviving close skill, a level 3 front line fighter and a level 7 crusher. Yeah, we thought you'd say that.

Boomerang Fighter
So Slash is okay for softening up the front line, but you know what Lancer does to help you take out the enemy's support units? Just about nothing. That's because everyone staggers their formation so hitting two units with a Lancer is hard enough, forget about three. Gowen has the answer with a little application of the boomerang. This Ranking up level 2 has 30 damage base, and his special attack hits one random unit from the enemy's front row, one from the enemy's middle row, and one from the enemy's back row! That sounds to me like a Fenrir-Sucubus-Eskatia or a Guardian (ouch)-Arius-Magic Musician or a Fencer-Scythe Soldier-Song Sorc or maybe a Combat Monk-Blitz Soldier-Salamander.

Holy Realm Knight / Sergis
Okay, we all know about the Shrine Knight fun that's coming. But my favorite card from the new Refess set is Sergis, another knight who worships Refess directly like Orphen. (That means he's not Solar Kingdom) He's only got 40 HP, but he's also got a 40 AT and 3 AGI. His special ability randomly hits any enemy he could normally one-shot (meaning it's got less remaining HP than his AT), but instead of just killing it, he reduces the target to MAX HP = 0. I'm sorry, was that your Dagon? The best part is that Lycanthropes will try to revive, burn the 1 SP, and heal up to 0 HP, immediately dying again. (note, close skill only activates when you are reduced from a positive number down to 0 HP. When you're "healed" up to 0 HP it doesn't trigger the close skill a second time).

Okay, I just realized that while my pick for Gowen is an extremely efficient fighter, it's not as dramatic or as exciting as the other three. So how about this? There's a Gowen unit with a new ability to add a damage bonus whenever any unit uses under the control of her Iczer uses the Attack option... for the rest of the game all of your units will get the bonus... and it's cumulative!

Card Spotlights and Set 5 Video

We are working on both as I type. Card Spotlight has risen from the ashes of card of the week. Still the same info, still the same card highlights. So it basically exactly the same minus the fact that we changed the name. We feel the new name is cooler and evokes a simpler time when people would sit on the porch and watch the sun dip into the mountains.

Also, the Set 5 video should be up very soon. So sit tight.

What better way to end the summer with a bang?  Set 5 is coming!  It's time we put to use the new capabilities we got from all the upgrades this month, so it's time for a slew of cards with new abilities that weren't possible before!

We're planning to launch on Friday, August 28th.  You can see some previews here on the expansions page.

We'll have the Flash trailer up and running soon, as well.

Okay, everyone should have your prizes by now.  One thing, I just added Summer Kurina's card data into the system a few minutes ago, and the Card File takes a while to update.  So, she'll probably look bugged in the Card File until morning maintenance, but she'll still play fine and look fine in game!
